Jupiter
Jupiter is a creature that merges the physical traits of a bird and a fish with a feminine and corporeal figure. Its materiality evokes the crystalline clarity and allure of crystal, yet its actual substance is plastic. This being exists in a state of ambiguity, suspended between material, form, and figure.
The process of creating Jupiter reflects my own mental state as a female artist during a period of uncertainty, grappling with the relationship between my body and society. I created Jupiter in 2018, at a time when I was exploring fragmented and disrupted feminine forms.
In a society where the censorship of women and the female body has severed the connection between mind and body in all cultural and social dimensions, Jupiter represents an effort to reclaim a body in which one can reside. It is a search to rebuild the bridge between the mind and body, to redefine a space where feminine presence and experience can be reimagined.
